Supporting Mason and How You Can Help!
I love our yoga community. We all came together last Friday to honor Mason Gordon — he’s only 11 years old and suffers from an inoperable malignant brain tumor — and his family, and to raise money to help with their challenges in making ends meet as a result of Mason’s battle with cancer. Mason’s mom, Lindsey is Mason’s only caregiver. The time she takes off from work for hospital and doctor visits, sick days from school, and more has put a financial strain on the family. Thankfully, Mason’s many hospitalizations and medical care are covered by insurance.
We raised $4,600 Friday night to help with the Gordon family’s financial needs. And Mason was there, all full of energy. I really love this kid! You can read more about the evening here at the Bellevue Reporter.
In addition, people from all over the world — right here in Bellevue, Singapore, London, India, Ireland, Canada and all over the US are supporting Mason with the #ThumbsUpForMason campaign on social media. Add your thumbs up pic using the hashtag. Mason will smile and I’ll thank you and so will this incredible family. Let’s beat #childhoodcancer. Hey, Mason — you’ve got this!
What’s more, Mason has attracted caring people from all over the world who want to help, including race car driver Derek DeBoer. Derek has set up a special fundraising effort online and on his website to help Mason and his family. For a $50 donation, your name can ride along with Mason’s logo on Derek’s #09 The Racer’s Group – Aston Martin Racing car during his next race at the Pirelli World Challenge stop at the iconic Road America circuit on June 25. Derek will be honoring Mason at the race.
